Changes in the law on the right to request flexible working come into effect on 6th April; those who wish to make a permanent change to their contract to allow them to care for a child can now do so at any time until the child reaches the age of 17. Until now, the right ended when the child reached the age of 6. In QMUL, the college supports the principle of flexible working and will consider applications from staff even if they do not have the legal right to apply. The HR Code of Practice has been revised to bring it up to date.
