Having good physical health is a key part of our overall wellbeing. Research tells us that to keep an active mind we need to keep an active body. Physical activity includes day-to-day activities and active recreation, as well as activities we traditionally think of as ‘exercise’, such as competitive sport.
Any activities that get you moving and using energy are useful. Benefits to regular physical activity are seen in both physical health and mental wellbeing.
Try creating variety in your daily routine:
- Take breaks/lunch outside
- Do your research or reading in another space/area
- Take virtual meetings away from your desk and walk & talk
- Try desk yoga
- Take 5-minute stretch breaks every hour
