Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is available?

Staff data is available for each academic year from 2001/2002. Subject to our obligations under the Data Protection Act 1998, Human Rights Act 1998, we are able to supply detailed data summaries based upon specific requirements. Individualised data is available for Heads of Department, departmental administrators and other staff with appropriate delegated authority.

Where are you getting the information from?

Data is derived from the College's HR/Payroll system (ResourceLink) and, through the use of a report writing tool called Cognos Impromptu we are able to deliver timely and relevant management  information.

How do I get data?

If you would like to place a request for a specific set of data please complete the online data request form. Individualised data requests will need to be verified.

What happens next?

Once we receive your data request form we will tailor a specification to cover the information you require.

Some of the data supplied in a report is inaccurate.

Please let us know as soon as possible by emailing hr-systems@qmul.ac.uk. HR will check the information and if appropriate will update the records on the core HR system.  Changes to some data fields, e.g. surname, will require further information from staff. In this instance your HR team will contact you for the necessary documentation.

What if I want student data, not staff data?

The Information & systems team can only provide staff data. We do not have access to the Student Records System which holds student data. The SRS is being upgraded and is known as the Student Information System. The SIS team should be contacted about enquires regarding information. They're contact list can be found here
