In May this year, representatives of Higher Education Employers made an offer of a 1% pay increase to the major Higher Education trades unions.  
UCU, Unite and Unison have either accepted or noted the offer.

Queen Mary can now implement the nationally agreed award.  All staff will receive the pay increase as part of their January salary.  Given that the award is to take effect from 1st August 2012, there will be arrears payments to be made.  Most staff who are paid on points on QMUL's grading structure will receive back pay as part of their January salary.  Other staff who are not paid on the pay scales will receive their arrears payment as part of their February salary.
