In 2018 the Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) governance was restructured to help embed EDI throughout all structural levels of the University and to strengthen accountability of action plans and delivery against these plans.
The new structure is as follows;
Equality Diversity & Inclusion Steering Group (EDISG)
The Equality Diversity & Inclusion Steering Group (EDISG) is the University-level EDI group that has strategic overview on EDI matters. The EDISG is co-chaired by a Faculty VP and the Chief Operating Officer.
Senior Academic Lead for Equality Diversity & Inclusion
The Senior Academic Lead represents both academic and professional service staff and works closely with the Students union. The lead reports directly to QMSE and works in partnership with the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion team.
Faculty level and Professional Service Equality and Diversity Groups
The Faculty level and Professional Service Equality and Diversity Groups ensure that inclusivity is embedded throughout Faculty and departmental level. They make recommendations to the EDISG on how university strategy, policy, process and practice should promote equality and diversity and they will oversee the development and implementation of policy and process at a local level.
Equality and Diversity Forum
The Equality and Diversity Forum is chaired by the Senior Academic Lead for EDI and has membership from all Schools and Professional Service departments. This brings together all stakeholders across QMUL with an interest in EDI issues and is a key forum for airing matters arising from any section of QMUL.

Gender Self-Assessment Team
The university Gender Self-Assessment Team oversees the strategic direction and implementation of Athena SWAN charter principles and related practices throughout the university. For further information see Athena SWAN pages.
